On August 28, the mass production ceremony for Valeo’s million-unit electric-drive project was held in Changshu. Wang Wei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Suzhou, met with Christophe Périllat, Chief Executive Officer of Valeo Group, and attended the project mass production ceremony together.
Ranked among the world’s top 10 automotive component suppliers, Valeo established its first project in Changshu back in 2015. Its three core business divisions have successively set up operations in Suzhou, giving Suzhou the most comprehensive industrial layout of Valeo’s investment sites across China.
With the million-unit electric-drive project signed in March this year, Valeo plans to add 1.2 billion yuan in new investment within five years. Upon full operation, it will generate an extra annual output value of 3 billion yuan.
During the meeting, Wang Wei congratulated Valeo on the successful mass production of its million-unit electric-drive project. He noted that Suzhou, as a key manufacturing hub and a leading center for the new-energy vehicle industry in the Yangtze River Delta, is well endowed with comprehensive supply chains and abundant innovation resources. He also reiterated the city’s commitment to further opening-up and its desire to achieve shared growth with world-class enterprises. Referring to Valeo’s long-standing presence and fruitful collaboration in Suzhou, he expressed expectations for stronger strategic cooperation in the future, with the hope of attracting more high‑end production lines and innovation projects to the city. He further assured that Suzhou would give full priority to the development needs of enterprises, provide solid support for the smooth implementation of the million-unit project, and continue to create a first-class business environment to facilitate Valeo’s expansion and additional investment in the region.
Expressing gratitude for Suzhou’s long-term support for Valeo’s development, Périllat noted that Suzhou, endowed with a sound industrial system, a favorable business environment, and a high-caliber talent pool, is one of Valeo’s most important investment destinations in China. He further stated that Valeo attaches great importance to its development in Suzhou and will leverage its global strengths in technology, R&D, and market resources to increase investment and expand its local presence, with the goal of jointly unlocking broader cooperation prospects with Suzhou.
Qian Yu, Secretary-General of the Suzhou Municipal People’s Government, together with leading officials from Changshu and relevant Suzhou municipal departments, attended the event.
