As the Shanghai Cooperation Organization marks its 25th anniversary this year, Taicang is strengthening its economic ties with the organization's member states.

The SCO has grown into the world's largest regional organization by geographical area and population. Taicang is moving to tap into this expanding network. According to Taicang Customs, the city's imports and exports with other SCO member states totaled 7.18 billion yuan ($1.07 billion) from January to July, up 53.7 percent year-on-year.

For Oechsler Taicang, trade with countries including India has been an established part of its international business for years. The company's executive vice-president for operations, Benjamin Ju, said its status as an advanced AEO-certified enterprise has provided greater convenience and confidence for expanding overseas markets.

The certification allows the company to benefit from streamlined customs clearance and fewer inspections, while also prompting more refined internal management. As a result, its overall production efficiency has risen by about 10 percent, while the inspection rate for imports and exports has seen a sharp drop.

Since the beginning of this year, its exports to other SCO member states have reached about 30 million yuan, an increase of more than 20 percent year-on-year.
