Q
What kinds of covid-19 tests are available?

A
Nucleic Acid Tests: Detecting the presence of the characteristic sequences of the virus’s genetic material (RNA) in the respiratory samples
1. Oral swabs: easy to take, less irritating, good for large-scale testing
2. Nasal swabs: technically demanding, irritating, more accurate than oral swabs
3. Anal swabs: highly accurate, lower misdiagnosis rate, targeted at quarantine sites and other key population groups
Antibody (Serology) Tests: Looking for antibodies in human blood to determine if a personwas once infected with the virus that causes COVID-19
Your body may not be able to produce antibodies in the early stage of infection, so there is a window period before the antibodies can be detected in your blood
The antibody test is a supplement to the nucleic acid test
Key population groups will be given additional antibody tests if necessary
